It is with great sadness we announce the sudden and untimely passing of
Friends and family are welcome to attend a gathering in Peter's honour at
Pulse Gallery in Johnston Terminal at The Forks.
The gathering will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 27.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter's memory may be made to a Winnipeg animal shelter of your choice.
Until recently, Peter had been better known as a metal sculptor. With the hands of a craftsman and the eye of an artist he drew on natural and cultural imagery over which he cut, hammered, burnt, and burnished to create a physical and sensory experience. He adeptly contemporized these folk art themes into a three dimensional, multi media narrative.
With the same emotional intensity and aesthetic quality Peter had honed a bold painting style that highlighted his perennial imagery using dramatic colour and daring lines. Peter, not one for ambiguity or subtlety and with five decades of experience he still had not identified his artistic limits.
Peter was a member of the Manitoba Society of Artists. His work graces both private and corporate collections as well as solo shows.
